Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Maine Nugs (the “Service”) operated at sustainable207.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time, and your continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on Maine Nugs. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.

User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.
One account per person. You may not create multiple accounts.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Listings & Content

When you post a listing on Maine Nugs, you agree to the following:

Your listing must be accurate and not misleading about the item, condition, or price.
You must have the legal right to sell, swap, or give away the item.
You are solely responsible for the legality of the items you list.
Listings expire after 30 days and may be renewed.
We reserve the right to remove any listing that violates these terms or is reported by the community.

Prohibited Listings

Illegal items or substances
Stolen property
Firearms, ammunition, or explosives
Hazardous materials (except through our Eco Recycling guides)
Counterfeit or fraudulent goods
Items that infringe on intellectual property rights
Adult content or services
Live animals (except through licensed farms/breeders)

Transactions

Maine Nugs is a community bulletin board — a digital swap shop for Maine. We do not process payments, hold funds, or serve as a party to any transaction. We strongly encourage meeting in public places for in-person exchanges.

All transactions are between individual users.
Maine Nugs is not a party to, and assumes no liability for, any transaction, deal, or exchange.
Users share contact information (phone numbers) voluntarily via explicit opt-in consent.
Maine Nugs does not verify the identity of users, the quality of items listed, or the accuracy of listing descriptions.
Users assume all risk for transactions conducted through contact information shared on listings.

Contact Information

Phone numbers are shared only with the explicit consent of the listing creator at the time of posting.
Phone numbers are visible only to signed-in members who have set a Maine location in their profile.
Maine Nugs does not store, sell, or share phone numbers with any third parties.
Users can remove their phone number at any time by editing or deleting their listing.

Peer-to-Peer Payments

Some users may share their PayPal.me links to accept voluntary tips or payments from other users. These peer-to-peer transactions:

Are entirely voluntary — no listing requires payment
Occur outside of Maine Nugs, directly between users via PayPal
Are not processed, mediated, or guaranteed by Maine Nugs
Are subject to PayPal's own terms of service and dispute resolution
Do not create any obligation, warranty, or receipt from Maine Nugs

All listings on Maine Nugs are free as a baseline. Supporting a neighbor financially is encouraged but never required.

Volunteer Driver Program

Maine Nugs is a community platform that facilitates connections between people who need items transported and volunteers willing to help. Maine Nugs does not employ, contract, insure, or supervise volunteer drivers.

By registering as a volunteer driver, you acknowledge and agree that:

You are an independent volunteer, not an employee, agent, or contractor of Maine Nugs
You are solely responsible for maintaining valid vehicle registration, driver's license, and adequate insurance coverage
You assume all risk associated with volunteer transportation activities
Maine Nugs makes no representations about the safety, reliability, or identity of any user
You release and hold harmless Maine Nugs, its creator, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or losses arising from volunteer activities
Maine Nugs does not perform background checks, vehicle inspections, or identity verification
All transactions and coordination between users occur at the users' own risk

This program is modeled after community marketplace platforms. Like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or your local bulletin board, Maine Nugs provides the space — the people provide the goodwill.

Intellectual Property

The Maine Nugs name, logo, design, and original content are the property of Maine Nugs. User-generated content (listings, images, descriptions) remains the property of the user who posted it.

By posting content on Maine Nugs, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote your content on the platform. You may remove your content at any time by deleting your listing or account.

SDG & Impact Data

The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) tags and impact metrics displayed on Maine Nugs are for educational purposes only. They represent estimated connections between marketplace activity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals and should not be interpreted as certified impact measurements, carbon offsets, or official UN endorsements.

Eco Recycling Section

The Eco Recycling section is provided as a beta informational resource. Facility details, hours, accepted materials, and contact information are provided as-is and may not be current. Maine Nugs is not responsible for errors in facility information. Always contact recycling facilities directly before transporting materials. Maine Nugs does not operate any recycling facilities.

Geopolitical & Economic Notice

Due to the current instability in international trade, destabilized international relations, and shifting legal norms, please be aware that conducting business — including small community exchanges — carries risks that are unprecedented in the post-war era. This notice will be updated once treaty allies in NATO and established multilateral frameworks resume rules-based relationships that protect small businesses and communities from disproportionate impacts of tariffs, trade disputes, and policy uncertainty.

We also note that any involved or partner corporations should publicly recognize the international situation and its effects properly in their own terms and communications.

Maine Nugs exists to do good in the world. Let's focus on one good nugget at a time. We need more good in the world, and this platform — powered by AI and community — is a force for good and a safe place to learn while helping communities, in a tough international and domestic environment not seen since the founding of the United Nations.

Maine Nugs is currently in beta. Features may change, be added, or be removed without notice. While we strive to protect your data, beta services are provided “as is” without warranty. Impact metrics, recycling facility information, and community statistics are best-effort and may not reflect real-time accuracy.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MAINE NUGS AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN USERS.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maine, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Cumberland County, Maine.
